At the end of last year (2024) my gym hosted it’s annual testing day whereby members are invited to work towards testing their strength with some of the main lifts we train throughout the year. It is a great opportunity to see where you are at.

For me, it is also a chance to test the mindset applications I’ve been employing whereby I use self-hypnosis for mobilising strength, altering perception of effort, managing intensity levels, engaging emotions, believing in myself, and much more besides.

This first clip is my deadlift PB I achieved of 252.5kg. I was delighted with this.

This second clip is a front angle which also shows a bit more of my mental preparation building up to the actual lift. I discussed a lot of this in a recent lecture I gave at the UK Hypnosis Convention (UK Hypnosis Convention video sets can be found at my college website or in my Hypnotherapist Development Hub if you are interested). There was some choice language picked up on this clip so sound has been removed.

This final video is my squat PB of 225kg, it was tough and had a slight sticking point in the middle, but managed it in the end.

I share these things here because I aim to prove that I walk the walk as well as talking the theoretical talk with these self-hypnosis applications and the results that can be achieved when using it alongside one’s training.
