The self-hypnosis process in my book does not require any audio to be used at all. It is a completely self-directed cognitive process. In fact, many authors and researchers state that hypnosis audio tracks do not really constitute ‘self-hypnosis’ as you are still being guided by an external source, albeit a recorded voice. It is deemed more akin to ‘hypnotist absent’ hypnosis.

The suggested best practice for self-hypnosis in the majority of the evidence base cited in my own research and book shows self-hypnosis to be a process that simply requires your own imagination, cognitions and a particular set of ordinary psychological processes – so no audio is ever required or deemed wholly necessary, though it can sometimes be used as an aid or support. Self-hypnosis is certainly not dependent upon use of any audio.
