Thank you Mary Jane, there is much research to support the notion that the benefits to the client and results achieved within hypnotherapy (and therapy) are much better when a collaborative approach is adopted.

Great post. Your idea is similar to the concept of person centred counselling developed by Carl Rogers, although not quite the same. Rogers is more neutral in his therapy than would be possible with hypnotherapy, but the respect and trust of the client is central and I believe very important in helping other people to achieve the change they desire.
