Very wisely said, thank you Sophie, yes use what works best for you... I would support the notion that if you prefer pink fluffy clouds, marshmallows and tenderness, then please use it as an alternative to my own wild west, rough and tumble boyish option... ;-)

Thank you for your valued contribution Sophie, A.

Loved this post, Mr Eason. I think becoming more consciously aware of our own self-talk is one of the single most powerful things we can do for our personal development.

I just wanted to add that I find being extra, extra kind to myself each time I notice the thought is even more effective for me than 'pinging.' You know, if you already have a rather self-critical dialogue (which I personally do), then it's easy to associate pinging with yet more of that bashing oneself around the head, slapping one's own wrists with a ruler, generally flicking bits of stuff in one's own face...

Instead, I do a kind of gentle gesture, give myself a bit of a hug. But maybe that's because I'm a girl. :-)

I guess this illustrates that it's about finding what works for you to interrupt that unhelpful internal script. Or maybe just my preference for pink sequins. :-)
