I seem to recal that in my own NLP training in around 2001 (with McKenna Bandler & Breen), Bandler did suggest that calibration was used before making assumptions about the client’s eye movements.

By the way, left or right handedness seems to make little difference to which way a person will look. We are each unique.
Calibrate, calibrate, calibrate!
