Wow, indeed. A fantastic piece of news. Let’s hope it starts a behavioural snowball.

I constantly battle the public’s general ignorance and fear of hypnotherapy, while at the same time hearing fears about the NHS force-feeding drugs and medicines.

I am a hypnotherapist and I know that stage hypnotists have considerably damaged the reputations of the clinically trained Hypnotherapists. To the extent that, as Karen’s father mentions it becomes non-credible and just a stage trick.

I know of people going through the registered medical processes first and then when they find no joy they start looking into the more complementary or alternative therapies. Many of which seem to cure them in a very short space of time.

Quite possibly the general public should take note and try some of the alternative pain-free, drug-free and non intrusive methods first. And if those fail (unlikely) they can then start their regime of being drip fed chemicals for the rest of their life. Am I ranting now? ha ha

I don’t want this entry to trawl on too long but as a quick note, there are professors in the University of Hull who are using hypnosis within their studies on suggestibility. So academic-led research is underway. Maybe one day hypnosis will receive the credit that it’s due.

Karen - I hope your father keeps an open mind and I wish him a speedy recovery. Please let us all know how successful it is.

Well he’s got an appointment so he’ll soon find out huh!!
