Ha, yes Chris... Though I think it is a common misconception among many (even well educated) people about hypnosis being not dissimilar to being under anaesthesia... Which is a crying shame of course. Thanks, good to hear from you.]]></description>

Braid defined hypnotism as focused attention on a dominant expectant idea.  It would seem odd to describe someone as being &quot;under&quot; their own focused attention, expectation, or imagination.  When someone is daydreaming (or meditating) we don&#039;t say: &quot;He&#039;s gone under!&quot;
