In reply to <a href="https://adam-eason.com/brain-myths-explored/#comment-46238">Richard Ingate</a>.

Thanks for sharing Richard, the more I look into this one, the more of a myth it and the more senseless it becomes.... We limit ourselves and others massively by pigeon holing preferred learning styles - especially when we pigeon hole them into 4 or 5 categories across the board for everything!!

We all learn differently at different times in different ways and are effected by a wide number of factors on each occasion (environment, feelings, thoughts, health, subject matter, teacher, our level of interest, motivation, current mood; the list goes on and on). The bottom line is that neuroscience tends to refute this one quite heavily and supports other avenues.

Best wishes to you, Adam.

They are popular, and I think if you examine the neuroscience the notion you cite about "a lefty dominant person is controlled by the right lobe" is indeed a myth as well. :-)
Best wishes to you Eric, Adam.

Myth 3 on learning styles was long used to give teachers more problems. I remember having to fill out sheets of my students learning styles....sigh... that never saw the light of day again because they were fashionable but absolutely useless!

Love it. I had long believed 2,3,7, and 10.

Myth 4: People are Left or Right brained.
A person who is left handed could be considered right-brained. It might be misleading to label it that way, but physiologically, a lefty dominant person is controlled by the right lobe. Maybe that's another myth.
