A great article Adam, and on something I can complete relate to! I spent many years being stared at for being different and eventually “tried” to conform. Not the easiest of things to do after having spent three decades being yourself.

It took me until December last year to realise that I wasn’t living my own life any more, but living a life that had been fabricated out of a need to be accepted. I’m finding “me” again now though, and thoroughly loving life in the process. I could never be anything other than what I am again, and would never expect anyone else to change either!

A bit late to the party, I’m catching up on my feeds, but this quote is relevant:

I wholeheartedly agree more but my wife’s a teacher and we’ve got to eat.
It takes at least the first two school years for schoolchildren to be taught to stop being individuals and nonconformists, followed by a lifetime of regular top up teaching by the government and media.
All that education would be wasted, my wife would be out of a job (again!).

I love this, and I’m proud to be a sheeple in saying so!! It took me too long to strike out and be myself. It can take trial and error before we know when we’re at our most comfortable. It takes awareness.

The minute I chose to do what I do, the way I do it, and dared to be different, I started to see clients who I wanted to see!

I like marmalade on my pancakes 😉

Excellent article Adam. So many people throughout history were thought of as weird, or even dangerous for thinking outside the box. Henry David Theroux springs to mind.

The only trouble with being different and unique is that you seemingly need to be dead for 50 years or so before you’re genius is recognized. 😉
